Week Ten — 14 miles

Site Assistant Sharon, Coach Jen, and Site Rep. Yael try to warn us about the 14-miler.

"And around mile 4 is the killer rabbit. Beware its pointy teeth!"

"Map? Map? Did anyone bring a map?"

There were six of us when we began our "half-marathon plus a little more" run...

(Coach Jen, in the blue shirt, is clearly standing at attention because she knows the mass casualties are about to occur. Sharon is raising a fist in defiance to the cruel, cruel world that will wipe out our pace group.)

Yikes! We're already down to two people (me and Giovanna) and we're only on mile 5! We're actually going up a monstrous hill at this point and have decided to take a walk break; I used to bike up and down this hill in high school with a friend as we went on a quest for Doctor Who books. As hard as it was on a bicycle, it's even worse on foot. Ugh.

(I'm pretty sure that's Madelyn in the blue tank top, but our relationship is not yet at the point where I can see her from behind and shout, "I'd know that butt anywhere!")

Emily's in the forefront, looking as if she just jogged around the block and is ready for another 14 miles! How does she do it?

Andy and John pose for the camera. We were starting to think that Andy was really just a figment of John's imagination, so Andy came out to be a water volunteer just to prove otherwise.

Victory! 14 miles, and we're still smiling! I know it's hard to believe! (You'd never know from that expression that Julie in fact hurt her knee pretty badly. Must be my magnetic presence keeping her going. Either that or the heroin that Lisa slipped to her under the table.)
