It's a sea of charity runners! (The purple shirts are from Team In Training.) As we all head around the Tidal Basin ourselves, the mantra being repeated over and over again is "gonna make the bridge, gonna make the bridge."

We look pretty chipper. Must be all the calming water.

John's partner Andy zipped around the entire course on his bike, with words of encouragement and ice cold water. At mile 20.5, you need both of those.

Pam and her friend finally caught me! We're about two miles from the end and feeling gooooooood!

Wait, make that one mile from the end...
