Week Twelve — 16 miles!, page 1 of 3

We're preparing to run over I-66 here. Everyone looks fresh and non-sweaty because it's early into the run (only about 3 miles).

This hill doesn't look terribly steep, but trust me, it's a killer! It feels great to run down it.

When we cross over I-495 we play a game to see which side we can get more cars to honk on. This involves jumping up and down and waving your arms. Leslie is so caught up in this that she hasn't noticed that she's running right at that bicyclist.

Here's the rest of my group! If you look carefully, you can see what looks like about 700 people chasing us. Possibly more. It seems we'd stolen some sacred artifact that they want back.

And here I am! In retrospect, that shirt underneath the singlet was not a good idea. I look pretty miserable in that photo. (A little later I ditched the shirt and decided I didn't care if anyone else saw my pasty white shoulders.) No, I don't know what that strange glow from my water bottle is. Perhaps a passing alien got caught inside?
