Week Twenty-Two — 24 miles!, page 2 of 2

The best thing about the 26-mile run (ok, 24-mile run for me) is that we go far enough to get to our favorite spot on the trail... Difficult Run.

Heading back through Vienna, we bid farewell to the train mural that we pass on all of our really long runs. The W&OD Trail is built along the route of an old train line, so it's a very appropriate choice of image. (Yes, the sky really was that blue!)

Ouch. A picture of where the back of my knee was getting rubbed raw from my knee brace. For the marathon I will be bringing some BodyGlide with me so I can keep that from happening again.

We hit the final water stop with just over 3 miles to go! (Why do I always squint when my picture is taken? *sigh*)

Waiting for us at the finish line was this fantastic balloon arch to run through.

Steve, Britt, Julie, and I show off our medals for completing the final long run of the AIDS Marathon program for 2002. Victory!

My snazzy new medal.
