The Baltimore Marathon, page 5


Madelyn and I are still smiling, but I am definitely listing to one side and I think that's really a grimace of pain on her face.

Susan returns with a balloon of Winnie the Pooh dressed up as a bat. I'm not entirely sure what the symbolism of the balloon was supposed to be, but it was amusing. (Seconds later, Susan almost got run over by a car and wisely got out of the lane still open to traffic!)

One of the hazards of taking pictures while running a marathon is that unless you stop, they turn out v-e-r-y b-l-u-r-r-y. This guy kept showing up to cheer us on, waving an AIDS Marathon sign that said "You Are Heroes" on it. It really lifted our spirits.

Madelyn's family shows up! Well, a small fraction of them. I think the rest were busy forming multiple baseball teams or something.

Just about halfway there! Of course, little did we know that just over the next hill was...
