Accidentally left my running shoes in the other room, but fortunately had my old shoes still on hand. Which is why, if you’re looking carefully, you will see the lack of an update to the “current shoes” total.

Just me and Steve this morning and we headed out for a big loop… which got cut a little short when it began to rain, and then pour on us. Ugh. Headed off to Clarendon for my post-weekday-run shower at the gym, and by then it had stopped, so I ran just under 2 more miles there to finish it out for the morning.

Tried to run at the gym to avoid the rain and it was awful, just awful. Overheated almost instantly, was drenched in about a half mile, nothing was working right. Aborted the run at the 2 mile point before I did anything worse to myself.

Well, after running the Veteran’s Day 10K with a cold, I definitely paid for it. A week of being fairly sick, bleah. Finally was starting to feel up to a little running by the weekend, so on Saturday I went to the gym and after using the rowing machine for half an hour, ran 2 miles on the treadmill with no real problems.

Got abandoned this morning, but used that to my advantage to run w/ Charlie after work in the gorgeous weather. A bit of huffing and puffing but overall not too bad.

So Humid You Can Write Your Name In It

Start time: 7/8/12, 6:35am
Location: Sligo Creek Park
Distance: 2.49 miles
Average pace: 10:02min/mile
Total Miles For July: 8 miles
Total Miles For 2012: 272 miles
Current Shoes: 67 miles

I was supposed to do this 25-minute run yesterday, but on Friday afternoon I developed a big ol’ cramp in my right calf that was still bothering me (although not as bad) on Saturday. So, got up on Sunday and thought that maybe Sligo Creek might be a few degrees cooler in the same way that Rock Creek gets that way.

Well, if it was, I didn’t notice. Thick and humid air, generally unpleasant from start to finish. Calf was still a little sore but I think the run helped stretch it out. Glad that’s over.
