OMG Awful

Start time: 5/31/2015, 10:00 am
Location: Sligo Creek Park
Distance: 4 miles
Average pace: 10:02 min/mile
Total Miles For May: 93 miles
Total Miles For 2015: 299 miles
Current Shoes: 393 miles

Should have gotten up much earlier. Too humid and hot; this felt like a July run, not end-of-May. Oooofff.

A Little Toastier

Start time: 5/28/2015, 5:39 am
Location: National Mall, Capitol Hill
Distance: 7.15 miles
Average pace: 9:52 min/mile
Total Miles For May: 89 miles
Total Miles For 2015: 295 miles
Current Shoes: 389 miles

Definitely was feeling the humidity today… uuugggghhhhhh. Also, time to swap out the shoes. Probably the first run in June will be just that.

Warming Up But Pushing Hard

Start time: 5/26/2015, 5:36 am
Location: National Mall
Distance: 7.25 miles
Average pace: 9:34 min/mile
Total Miles For May: 82 miles
Total Miles For 2015: 288 miles
Current Shoes: 382 miles

It’s definitely getting a little toastier. Pushed hard though, and Steve and John followed suit.

Bonus Run

Start time: 5/25/2015, 7:08 am
Location: Sligo Creek Park
Distance: 6 miles
Average pace: 10:40 min/mile
Total Miles For May: 75 miles
Total Miles For 2015: 281 miles
Current Shoes: 375 miles

Had a little extra, “bonus” run today w/ Steve through Sligo Creek Park. The plan is to still run Tuesday/Thursday so no land speed records were being set, especially with the hills climbed in order to get back out of the area. A pleasant little run.

Early Memorial Day Run

Start time: 5/23/2015, 6:57 am
Location: National Mall, Georgetown Waterfront
Distance: 8.06 miles
Average pace: 9:53 min/mile
Total Miles For May: 69 miles
Total Miles For 2015: 275 miles
Current Shoes: 369 miles

Just me and Steve; originally we thought we’d have someone joining us two miles into the run (and planned the route accordingly) but that got nixed due to an email glitch. Ah well! Another cool (for May) morning, no complaints here.

Distinctly Cooler Thursday

Start time: 5/21/2015, 5:37 am
Location: National Mall
Distance: 7.25 miles
Average pace: 9:57 min/mile
Total Miles For May: 61 miles
Total Miles For 2015: 267 miles
Current Shoes: 361 miles

It was much, much cooler on Thursday, to the point that I wore a long-sleeved shirt with my shorts. Skipped Capitol Hill this time because I was feeling having biked 20 miles home from the office the day before. (I’ve been neglecting my cycling, so this is an attempt to start adding it back in. Normally a 20-miler wouldn’t make me bat an eye.) Another pleasant run.

Tuesdays in the Park with Ben

Start time: 5/19/2015, 5:38 am
Location: National Mall, Capitol Hill
Distance: 7.18 miles
Average pace: 9:59 min/mile
Total Miles For May: 54 miles
Total Miles For 2015: 260 miles
Current Shoes: 354 miles

It was a pretty warm morning but Ben and I pushed through it fairly well. On the plus side, that means the eye candy is often wearing distinctly less clothing, ha ha.

My Bad

Start time: 5/16/2015, 6:37 am
Location: National Mall, Hains Point
Distance: 10.22 miles
Average pace: 10:00 min/mile
Total Miles For May: 47 miles
Total Miles For 2015: 253 miles
Current Shoes: 347 miles

The plan was pretty simple: run 4 miles with Armand, then 6 more with Armand and Jerry. It all was going according to plan until near the end; I needed to stop to use one of the bathrooms on Hains Point and I told Armand and Jerry that they didn’t need to wait for me (since they’d already had to do so once before) and which turn to take to get back.

…Except I told them the wrong one. By the time I realized my error there was no way I could have caught them. So in the end, the guys ended up running an extra 1.5 miles. *sigh*

When they showed up, I said, “Is there a German word for when you try to be helpful but instead just cause a huge problem? Because I feel like there needs to be one, so I can use it right now.” Bad, bad, bad Greg.

More Humidity

Start time: 5/12/2015, 5:36 am
Location: National Mall
Distance: 7.22 miles
Average pace: 9:58 min/mile
Total Miles For May: 30 miles
Total Miles For 2015: 236 miles
Current Shoes: 330 miles

Another super-humid run; fortunately a lot of that’s supposed to go away for a bit. On the bright side, we finally had our first weekday morning shirtless runner spotting; we were starting to wonder why we hadn’t had one yet.
