Legs Like Lead

Start time: 6/30/2015, 5:37 am
Location: National Mall, Capitol Hill
Distance: 7.25 miles
Average pace: 9:46 min/mile
Total Miles For June: 87 miles
Total Miles For 2015: 386 miles
Current Shoes: 60 miles

Biked home after work on Monday, and the fact that it had been 20 days since the previous time out on the bike (thanks to lots of ill-timed afternoon thunderstorms) meant that I paid the price Tuesday morning. My legs felt like lead the entire time and it was a struggle, but I kept going, so that’s a big victory.

Rain Delay

Start time: 6/28/2015, 7:06 am
Location: East Capitol Street, National Mall
Distance: 8.3 miles
Average pace: 10:13 min/mile
Total Miles For June: 80 miles
Total Miles For 2015: 379 miles
Current Shoes: 53 miles

Originally was going to run on Saturday, but right as I started leaving the house, the skies opened up and a monsoon-level rain came down. Happily someone else texted before I could to suggest postponing. Ran down East Capitol St to RFK Stadium and back for a change of scenery the next morning.

A little bit faster

Start time: 6/25/2015, 5:38 am
Location: National Mall
Distance: 7.2 miles
Average pace: 9:26 min/mile
Total Miles For June: 72 miles
Total Miles For 2015: 371 miles
Current Shoes: 45 miles

Still working on picking up my speed for my first two solo miles of my weekday runs. Bit by bit, getting there.

Air So Thick I Grew Gills

Start time: 6/23/2015, 5:41 am
Location: National Mall
Distance: 7.08 miles
Average pace: 9:30 min/mile
Total Miles For June: 65 miles
Total Miles For 2015: 364 miles
Current Shoes: 38 miles

Another crazy humid day, to the point that no one wanted to climb Capitol Hill. On the bright side, definitely was moving at a good pace (for me) despite the adverse weather.

Another Shot for 10

Start time: 6/20/2015, 6:06 am
Location: National Mall, Howard University, LeDroit Park, Capitol Hill, Navy Yard
Distance: 10 miles
Average pace: 10:22 min/mile
Total Miles For June: 58 miles
Total Miles For 2015: 357 miles
Current Shoes: 31 miles

Learning from our mistake the previous week, we went with a 6am start-time this Saturday. We had a few drop-offs along the route, but for the majority of us, we actually ran the full 10 miles this time through instead of everyone throwing in the towel early. So that’s a real victory.

Update: still warm

Start time: 6/18/2015, 5:40 am
Location: National Mall, Capitol Hill
Distance: 7.3 miles
Average pace: 9:35 min/mile
Total Miles For June: 48 miles
Total Miles For 2015: 347 miles
Current Shoes: 21 miles

Still warm but not quite as truly awful. So that’s an improvement, right?

Still Hot ‘n’ Humid

Start time: 6/16/2015, 5:40 am
Location: National Mall
Distance: 6 miles
Average pace: 9:53 min/mile
Total Miles For June: 41 miles
Total Miles For 2015: 340 miles
Current Shoes: 14 miles

Another very hot run, to the point where I cancelled the last “bonus” mile.

That Was Just Awful

Start time: 6/14/2015, 7:08 am
Location: National Mall
Distance: 8 miles
Average pace: 10:22 min/mile
Total Miles For June: 35 miles
Total Miles For 2015: 334 miles
Current Shoes: 8 miles

Too hot/humid, should have started earlier. You know things are going bad when not only did everyone in the group agree to cut the run short from the planned 10 mile distance, but my self-conscious nature completely melted and for the last two miles I went sans shirt in an effort to feel vaguely less awful.

Rather Humid

Start time: 6/11/2015, 5:35 am
Location: National Mall
Distance: 7 miles
Average pace: 9:37 min/mile
Total Miles For June: 27 miles
Total Miles For 2015: 326 miles
Current Shoes: 420 miles

Super, super humid this morning; by the time it was over, I was soaked to the bone. Bleah. That said, maybe we all just were desperate to get out of the humidity, but we moved at a nice clip.

Home Ground

Start time: 6/6/2015, 8:43 am
Location: Sligo Creek Park
Distance: 6.2 miles
Average pace: 10:00 min/mile
Total Miles For June: 20 miles
Total Miles For 2015: 319 miles
Current Shoes: 413 miles

Was NOT feeling well for a good stretch of this run, unfortunately. Win some, lose some.
