Back Outdoors, Finally (but still not great conditions)

After a week off due to snow, finally running again, and finally back outdoors. A lot of starting and stopping due to ice and packed snow, but at least we were moving.

Last Chance Run (on a treadmill)

The last of my five treadmill runs in a row (oof!), and also the last run in before “snowzilla” showed up later in the day and knocked any plans of running out the window for a week.

Winter is so much easier to run in if it’s not precipitating. It’d stopped later in the day so I got a walk to and from the gym as part of this run (3.2 miles round trip) so not a bad little workout overall.

Too Cold / Treadmill

It was a bit too cold out today (with the windchill, at 5:40am, it felt like 7 degrees) so another crappy treadmill run, complete with a person who took the one next to me even with other ones available. Also, the new bluetooth sweatproof headphones apparently cannot stay in one’s ears if one is sweating. Ugh.

Cut the run a tiny bit short to get into the office to let someone else in, but it was an annoying enough run that it’s probably just as well.

Cold Breeze

Nothing much to report, save that it’s back to the 10-miler weekend base. We’ll probably shift up to the 12-14 range next month as the half marathon gets closer.

 

Back to the Treadmill

A combination of cold temperatures and not feeling great resulted in bagging Monday’s run. Still wasn’t entirely up to the great freeze (although it was better out this morning than Monday was!) so I ended up going on the treadmill. (Plus if I started feeling bad it would be easier to stop.)

Didn’t stop, which was a victory, but I was definitely flagging a lot on the last two miles and took a minute walk break at the start of each. All in all not bad (and glad I got the distance in) but clearly not back up to full levels of energy. On the bright side I got a massage on Sunday and the work on the IT band definitely helped with the knee! Easily the least problematic since Norman OK.
