We had tickets Thursday nights for Madama Butterfly, so I got into work early enough that I could knock out a run afterwards. With the rain still bucketing down I decided I’d rather not drown and (alas) went for the indoor track again. I was hoping for 5 miles but I felt like crap the entire time I was running. Sometimes it just never quite clicks internally and this was one of them.

This week’s been a little nutty and overbooked, and so far during the week I’ve only squeezed in stuff on Monday and Wednesday. On Wednesday I got to the spin class with enough extra time to knock out three miles right before spinnign. Another backwards brick, as I like to think of it. 🙂

Missed my planned run on Tuesday, so I decided to do a backwards brick today and knocked out three miles on the indoor track right before my spinning class started in the evening. Worked pretty well (aside from being super-thirsty, I suspect from the excess sodium that comes with store-bought soup for lunch) and I had enough energy in reserve to survive Teresa’s butt-kicking spin class. I must admit that I kind of miss my old run-after-spin bricks. In the spring I’ll definitely be reviving them.

Aaaaand, I guess that wraps up a lackluster November. Wasn’t feeling good on Wednesday after the previous day’s run, and while out of town we were never able (due to other commitments) to squeeze in a run. Finally got in a few miles on the indoor track after work today, but mentally I was never able to get into the game and I called it a wrap after going around that stupid thing 24 times. You’ve got to be in the right frame of mind for the indoor track at TJ, and I just wasn’t there.

Made it to the gym several times this week, just no running seems to have taken place. Again. Head is not in the game.

It was Charlie’s birthday on Friday, and as part of his birthday present I didn’t wake him up for me heading out early Saturday morning with my group. He’s been getting over a running injury and just back up and about now, so he asked if I could just run a 3-miler with him. It was nice to do so; I won’t comment on the fact that the only time I can truly keep up with him is when he’s sick or injured… 🙂 I’ll take it where I can!

I still hate treadmills

You think I’d have remembered from the last time I used the Spring Hill Rec Center treadmills about the utter lack of air circulation in that room and how it makes me overheat to the point that I have to stop… but no. That was horrible. Barely finished three of a planned five miles before quitting in disgust.

I’d gone swimming in the morning, but it was such a beautiful evening that I wanted to squeeze in a quick run in-between work and dinner plans. Not really time for more than 3 miles, but better than nothing. And now… off to those earlier mentioned dinner plans!

What’s that about best laid plans and all that? I was supposed to run on Saturday with my group, but a towed car put an end to that. And while I should have run afterwards, it derailed me enough that it just didn’t happen. Monday likewise ended up being a no-go. With the race this weekend, though, I needed to do something. Finally, I picked up a 3-miler at the gym this morning. It’s just wretchedly cold out still, and I am supremely unmotivated right now. I just need a break. Except, of course, I also picked up some heavy duty holiday poundage that needs to go away. Argh. I’ve definitely been feeling it on these last few runs. Time to eat a little more frugally post-Disney.

Hopefully I’ll get a swim in tomorrow; it’s now been a month since I’ve made it over there. Yeesh!

With bad weather and other things going on, I didn’t get to do either a swim or a run yesterday, so I ended up doing both of them today. It was a great time at the pool (still improving over time which is a nice feeling), and I knocked another 30 seconds off of my time for the 1600yd routine I do. Then, after work, it was just a short jog on the indoor track. Sunday is race day and I’m taking it easy; just enough to keep moving, but not too much.
